Barça 5-1 Sevilla: Ready for the Champions League

Wednesday brought a resounding 5-1 defeat of Sevilla in the Liga F thanks to goals from Pajor (2), Vicky López, Alba Caño, and Aitana, with seven changes to the starting XI ahead of the Champions League semi-final first leg against Chelsea.

No holding back

Barça dominated from the start, with early chances from Schertenleib and Patri. Sevilla’s resistance eventually broke thanks to two goals from the league's top scorer Ewa Pajor—both from wide attacks.

Pina assisted the opener with a pinpoint low cross on 25 minutes, and Rolfo set up the second after her own shot was saved, leaving Pajor to tap in the rebound.

Minor setback

Just before half-time, a mistake from Cata Coll under pressure allowed Sevilla's Fatou to pull one back into an open net, but Barça stayed focused as Romeu brought on Alexia and Salma, who both made an instant impact.

Salma’s shot was saved, but Vicky López reacted quickest to score the third and moments later, Alba Caño netted her first Barça goal after a Rolfo assist.

Job done

Further subs followed, and though the pace dropped, Aitana Bonmatí delivered a trademark solo goal late on to round out a confident win, with momentum secured ahead of Sunday’s Champions League semi-final against Chelsea at the Estadi Johan Cruyff Stadium. That one starts at 6pm CEST.
