Goalkeeper
FC Barcelona and Vincent Gérard reached agreement in April 2025 for the goalkeeper to join until the end of the 24/25 season.
Vastly experienced, Gérard announced his retirement after the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, but quickly accepted Barça's offer. As such, the Frenchman joined the Club to stand in for Gonzalo Pérez de Vargas who was set to be out for a while.
His record is superb. With France he won an Olympic gold (Rio 2016) and silver (Tokyo 2020). He also has a gold (2017), a silver (2023) and a bronce (2019) from the World Championships, plus a gold (2014) and a bronze (2018) from the European Championships.
At club level, the blaugrana keeper's career took place virtually entirely in his home country, notably including his two spells at Montpellier (2006-2008 and 2015-2019), as well as his successes while at PSG (2019-2022).
Gérard knows all about winning an EHF Champions League, having done so with Montpellier during the 2017/18 season. What's more, he won five league titles and five cups in France.
The goalkeeper also spent time at THW Kiel, albeit never playing for them due to injury, and Istres, where his good performances led to him being called up for the Paris Olympic Games. His side only managed to reach the quarterfinals, but he had the third highest save percentage (33.6%) at the tournament.
